Manager, Network Engineering and Operations

Under direction from the Associate Director of Network Services, provides leadership, technical guidance, planning and oversight of projects, and financial responsibility to the Network Services Group operation and related projects.
In-depth, advanced understanding of various network hardware platforms, network related protocols and software
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Thorough knowledge and experience working with network management systems.
Must be able to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner.
Advanced knowledge of the practices and techniques of the voice and data field and the ability to determine a course of action based on guidelines.
Requires the ability to gather, organize, and prioritize work assignments, with limited guidance.
Requires technical knowledge and skills associated with voice and data network systems.
Requires full knowledge of own area of functional responsibility.
Advanced knowledge of professional communications and network systems in the completion of diverse assignments.
Demonstrated skill in managing technical staff.
Demonstrated knowledge of OSI Model.
Working knowledge of IPAM, DNS, DHCP.
Knowledge of AD, firewalls, and intrusion protection.
Demonstrated knowledge of CENIC, INTERNET II, HPWREN.
Demonstrated knowledge of Network Performance and Protocol Analysis and proven ability to act as the final escalation point for complex network technology problems, network design oversight and protocol level diagnosis.
Working knowledge of Cisco's CPI and Ops Manager products.
Demonstrated skill in developing long-range plans and budgets for communication systems and proven skills in the management of multiple and overlapping short and long term projects involving interdepartmental and outside contractor resource coordination.
Proven knowledge of current layer 2 and layer 3 virtualization technologies and their application to multiple data centers, buildings and multiple departments within buildings.
