Summary of Duties:
The Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine (ESFCOM) at Washington State University is a next generation, community based medical school designed to train students to be physician leaders, who innovate, adapt and discover in an ever-changing healthcare landscape. The School seeks a Director of Simulation Based Training (SBT) to join the medical education team in preparing insightful and compassionate physicians that will lead and advance the delivery of care.

This is an opportunity to lead the design, initial start-up and implementation of an innovative and first of its kind comprehensive simulation based training facilities in support of inter-professional medical and health sciences education. The successful candidate will provide strategic planning, support accreditation activities, and operational oversight of the unit and will hire and develop a team of individuals to support the virtual clinic.

Reporting Structure: The Director reports to the Founding Dean.

Key Responsibilities:
Initiate and coordinate the design for the SBT facilities including Virtual Clinical Campus (VCC), satellite low and high fidelity simulation facilities and mobile units.
Develop strategic plans and sequence resources to ensure that the mission and vision of college SBT align with the ESFCOM.
Develop and implement financial strategies that will ensure budgetary targets and key performance indicators are met; a business plan and staffing plans.
Develop and implement policies, procedures and practice standards consistent with the unit's educational objectives.
Participate in LCME accreditation activities related to SBT in the curriculum and sufficiency of resources.
Build toward attaining and sustaining national accreditation for the SBT.
Interface and collaborate with Chairs and Vice Deans to ensure SBT facilities and schedules meet curriculum / student education needs.
Oversee and support the development of simulation curricula with appropriate faculty and staff.
Lead the design, development, implementation and evaluation of immersive learning scenarios, procedures and practices.

Required Qualifications:
MD, DO or terminal degree in a health profession.

Leadership experience in patient simulation services, technologies and applications.

Strong track record of simulation education for medical or nursing students.

Administrative experience to include budget management, human resources, project management and strategic planning.
