The Division of Enrollment Management, Office of Undergraduate Admission has an immediate opening for a highly motivated individual to be part of an exciting team. Under the direction of the Associate Director of Admission, the Assistant Director will assist with recruiting, selecting, and enrolling a dynamic class of first-year and transfer students to the University of Miami. The Assistant Director will be responsible for a geographic territory, will travel approximately eight weeks per year, conduct information sessions and attend events, review applications, and will have programmatic responsibilities throughout the admission cycle.

Specifically, the Assistant Director will be expected to travel domestically for a period of up to 8 weeks to visit high schools, conduct information sessions, attend college fairs, and build relationships with counselors.

The Assistant Director will also be responsible for:
1. General office duties, which include: rotating with other counselors in serving as “Admission Officer of the Day” (meet with walk-in visitors, handle phone calls, and give presentations to guests who will be going on tours).
2. Evaluating applications for admission based on the University’s recruiting goals and standards, and counseling parents, applicants, and high school counselors regarding the University of Miami’s admission policies and procedures.
3. Expected to attend all admission events (open houses, admitted student events, scholarship competition weekends); as such, some evening and weekend work is required.

The Assistant Director must possess excellent presentation, communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills. The person must have the ability to work independently, as well as with teams of colleagues, and possess the aptitude for detail oriented tasks. The Assistant Director must also possess strong time management skills and have the ability to prioritize and balance responsibilities.

Minimum Requirements:
• A Bachelor's degree is required, and experience in selective admission is a plus.
• At least one (1) year of work related experience is desired, and experience in a higher education administrative setting is preferred. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
• Strong presentation skills required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills are a necessity, with the ability to deal professionally with all types of information.
• Strong cultural competencies in a variety of circumstances are essential.
• We seek an individual with excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail/accuracy, and the ability to set priorities and effectively perform a variety of tasks simultaneously.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications required.
• Must be able to function well as part of a team. Some weekend/holiday/evening work is required.
