Summary of Duties:
The Washington State University (WSU) Department of The Paul G. Allen School for Global Animal Health (Allen School) is seeking to fill a permanent full-time faculty position. Rank will be at the level of Assistant, Associate or full Professor; position may be tenured, tenure-track, or clinical track depending on qualifications and scholarly focus. Current Residency in the U.S. will not be a requirement for this position.

  • The position will be full time (12 month), and the successful candidate will have the following division of responsibilities.

Scholarly activity (approximately 85%): The faculty member will actively engage in and lead scholarly pursuits in association with the global health activities of the Allen School and its university, national, and international partners. This will include participation as a lead and collaborating scientist in the research and development projects of the Allen School in the high priority area of antimicrobial resistance. Emphasis is on understanding the emergence and transmission pathways of antimicrobial resistance determinants, including animal, human, and environmental reservoirs. The successful applicant will also be expected to lead or assist with design, implementation or improvement of antimicrobial resistance surveillance systems on local, regional, and global scales. The successful candidate is expected to participate as both a principal and co-investigator on extramurally funded research programs. Depending on the candidate's focus, significant international travel may be involved. The candidate is expected to interface closely with the newly established Community Health Analytics Initiative at Washington State University (https://chai.eecs.wsu.edu/). As part of this initiative, the candidate may be jointly appointed in the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine and/or the Voiland College of Engineering. Publication of impactful scholarly activity as a first or co-author is an important expectation.

Professional and Graduate Education (approximately 15%): The faculty member will actively engage in the education and training mission of the Allen School, which encompasses professional, graduate and post-doctoral education, and short-term training for collaborative partners. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to teaching epidemiology and to serve as a major professor and member of trainee committees.

Required Qualifications:
A doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH, DVM, MD or equivalent) is required with a minimum of two years post-doctoral research experience in epidemiology and evidence of research publication as a first or co-author in high impact journals.

Appointments at the Associate and Full Professor level require a strong record for both publication and extramural funding.
