Job Summary This position provides local governments in Georgia with community design (visioning) assistance that specifically focuses on creating strategic visions with illustrative design and specific implementation plans and coordinating project design and research. The position exercises independent judgment in providing community design layouts that include illustrative and graphic design for Institute clients. Community design, an integral part of land use planning, involves the creation and management of the built environment -- buildings, streets, transport systems, parks and natural spaces that collectively help shape the form and pattern of cities, counties, coastal areas, and rural areas. This position provides high quality, professional architectural and interior designs/illustrations. The position coordinates meetings and site visits with clients. This position develops and maintains collaborative partnerships focused on community design with community, local leaders, and local government staff. This position requires travel to conduct site visits, public input sessions, and deliver presentations to clients. The position provides program support by managing the daily downtown design, research, and outreach efforts of the program, including supervision of graduate and undergraduate interns. Minimum Qualifications Graduation from an accredited college or university in graphic design or a closely related field and 5 years of previous graphic design experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
