Essential functions of this position:
Library Technician positions assist Library Specialists, but works with independence and exercises considerable judgment in interpretation and application of established library policies and procedures. The primary purpose of the position is to maintain library collections by completing the copy cataloging and withdrawal of monographs, and to provide assistance in physical processing of library materials.

N.C. Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience in library services, office support, or related field; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Preferred education, professional skills and experience:
Extensive knowledge of cataloging rules and procedures
Professional experience working in a library setting
Ability to type with speed and accuracy
Knowledge of and ability to learn computer applications for library procedures
Good interpersonal skills required to maintain good relations with staff and library users
Ability to organize workflow, work under pressure of frequent interruptions, recognize and solve problems

Recruitment Range: $39,040
NC Salary Grade Equivalency: 61
Hours Per Week: 1.0 (40 hours per week)
