The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine (PICU) at the University of Virginia, seeks multiple tenure-ineligible Pediatric Intensivists at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The incumbent is responsible for patient care, resident and fellow education, and clinical or laboratory research or program development. Rank and compensation are dependent upon qualifications and experience. This position may be eligible to convert to tenure-track at an appropriate time in the future, consistent with School of Medicine Promotion and Tenure guidelines and candidate qualifications.
Candidates must have an MD and be board-certified or board-eligible at the time of hire in pediatric critical care medicine. Candidates with experience in research and teaching are preferred.
The PICU at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville is currently a 14-bed multidisciplinary medical and surgical unit with approximately 900-1000 admissions per year, which is slated to expand in size within the next year, including the establishment of a dedicated pediatric cardiac ICU and an intermediate care unit. UVa is a Level 1 trauma center and has active programs in cardiovascular support. The division has an approved fellowship training program and also runs an active pediatric procedural sedation service. The incumbent joins a division comprised of 6 full-time faculty members.
