HR Manager- SLC

SUMMARY AND PURPOSE:

A well established international mineral processing organization is currently recruiting an HR Advisor to be based out of their Salt Lake City, Utah office. The HR Advisor will provide support and HR advice to company's Western US Operations to include grievances, employee relations matters, recruiting, and coaching.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide HR advice and support on issues including but not limited to employee and employment relations matters, grievance matters, employee conduct and capability, and organizational change.
Develop and maintain productive and collaborative relationships with internal customers, HR team and union representatives.
Support leaders with employee and labor relations issues by acting as both a coach and sounding board, guiding and advising managers with relevant policies and best practices.
Promote and support the consistent application of HR policies, legislation and best practices.
In conjunction with the Director of Employee and Labor Relations and local management support labor contract negotiations, grievances and disciplinary casework. Support the recruitment and selection process for both salaried and hourly employees, including assisting hiring managers in the development of job postings, developing candidate criteria, interviewing, offer letter preparation and on-boarding of new employees.
Stay current on relevant human resources legislation, current trends, and best practices, sharing of knowledge within HR team in a timely fashion.
Support management on casework including absenteeism, return-to-work, workers compensation, disability, and FMLA processes. Assist management in the preparation and delivery of appropriate documents regarding corrective action, terminations, etc.
Facilitate the deployment of the full array of HR initiatives. Contribute to functional and cross functional projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree/diploma in a Human Resources related field.
SHRM certification a plus. 5-8 years of relevant HR experience.
Preference will be given to experience providing front line HR support in an industrial multisite unionized environment.
Proven ability to communicate effectively with both groups and individuals at all organizational levels.
Strong customer focus. Superior judgment and decision-making skills with good attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
Able to influence others in making critical decisions. Ability to work collaboratively. Well organized and able to meet their commitments.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is essential.
Able to travel including cross border approximately 50% of the time.
This position supports plants in Utah, Washington, Montana, Nevada, and some in Western Canada. There are approximately 250 employment base supported by this HR Generalist.
