The Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology/Oncology at the University of Virginia seeks a Research Associate to work in the laboratory of Lawrence Lum, MD, DSc. This position is responsible for conducting research in cell culture, cell transfection, T cell activation, expansion, and cloning, and molecular engineering of vectors for transducing human T cells. Duties will also include writing and preparing manuscripts for scientific publication; making presentations at local, regional and national levels; and supervising and training students and staff in a collaborative fashion within the laboratory.
Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent in Biology, Biochemistry or related area by appointment start date and a minimum of three years' experience with mammalian and insect cell culture, cell transfection, protein detection and purification, preparation of cell lysates. Experience in molecular engineering of bispecific antibodies and T cell chimeric antigen receptors, and lab work involving murine models of mismatched murine graft-vs-host disease are preferred.
