National Cyber Warrior Academy Counselor/Mentor

General Summary: The University of North Georgia Center for Cyber Operations is running a 10-day residential National Cyber Warrior Academy (NCWA) for 40 high school students from June 21, 2017 - July 1, 2017. These are students are interested in exploring cyber security careers. UNG is looking to hire five Cadets to work as Counselors/Mentors for the program. Counselor/Mentor (C/M) training will occur June 19 -21, 2017. In addition to hourly pay, Counselors/Mentors will receive free rooms (single occupancy) in Liberty Hall and free meals. Counselor/Mentors (C/M) are responsible to the Commandant of Cadets for the safety and supervision of participants. They will live with the participants from June 21, 2017 - July 1, 2017. A schedule will be established so that adequate 24-hour per day supervision is achieved.

Job Duties & Responsibilities: The Counselor/Mentors will:
  • Ensure participants get to the right place at the right time in the right uniform with the right equipment
  • Attend classes and activities
  • Lead morning physical fitness training
  • Attend meals and field trips
  • Provide night supervision
  • Assist with any additional tasks required


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong desire to lead, coach and mentor high school students in the area of computer science/cyber defense


Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements:
  • At least one semester successfully completed in the Corps of Cadets, with plans to return to the Corps of Cadets in Fall 2017.
