The Farm and Industry Short Course (FISC) is a 16-week educational program designed to prepare students for careers in agriculture. The program is operated by the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has been offered each winter since 1885. FISC operates two residence halls (Humphrey and Jorns Halls) that house the majority of the students enrolled in the program; the dormitories operate as a short-term housing option when FISC is not in session.
The FISC Assistant Director is responsible for oversight of all aspects of the housing operation including marketing, recruitment, policies, financial management, personnel supervision, facility oversight and residential life programming. The residential program has an annual budget of over $500,000. The Assistant Director oversees two facility workers, a reservation specialist, 6 academic year housefellows, 4-6 summer housefellows and 3-5 student staff. The FISC Assistant Director will have direct contact with students and coordinate student educational and career development activities, with an emphasis on agricultural programming, as well as University-wide activities. More information on the program is available at fisc.cals.wisc.edu.
