Position Information
The Mail Services Supervisor plans, organizes and directs the day-to-day operation of the UCR Mail Services department. Responsible for implementing programs, strategies and standard operating procedures to provide effective, timely and accurate mail services for the campus including the processing and delivery of incoming and outgoing mail, intercampus mail, accountable mail, standard A mail, the distribution of printed announcements to departments, and the maintenance of UCR's electronic mail system. Sets standards and goals for the department in order to provide the campus high quality service, ensuring compliance with U.S. Postal Service and University regulations. Serves as a liaison between the U.S. Postal Service and the campus. Manages the annual operating budget for the department and develops fiscal controls to ensure the operation meets and maintains financial goals. Provides leadership and guidance to the Mail Services staff.

Minimum Requirements
Proficiency in basic computer applications.
Client service minded with an entrepreneurial spirit and creative thinking skills.
Working interpersonal, persuasive, mentoring, and leadership skills, service orientation, active listening, critical thinking, sound judgment, ability to multi-task effectively in a high volume environment, organizational skills and effective verbal and written communication skills.
Working knowledge of mail, package, shipping and express services operations, as well as related policy and regulatory compliance requirements from postal and other services, domestic and international.
Ability to direct, organize and prioritize staff and workloads, projects and assignments to meet required deadlines and departmental objectives.
Skill in evaluating and analyzing complex concepts, discrepancies, trends, relationships and developing solutions or recommendations as appropriate.
Skill in observing and evaluating the outcomes of a problem to identify the key issues and/or redirect efforts.
Skill and ability to learn and analyze UC policies, procedures, regulations and other directives to apply and provide recommendations, or implement changes in the operation based on policy.
Skill and knowledge in fiscal administration, ability to manage and maintain the departmental annual operating budget. Ability to produce and provide meaningful reports and metrics.
Strong math skills.


Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of human resources procedures and personnel management including staffing, hiring, training, disciplinary action, termination, performance management, etc.

Knowledge and/or experience with personnel management in a collective bargaining unit.

Knowledge and/or experience with space planning and facilities management, including forecasting for future space requirements and securing on space proposals.

Thorough knowledge of UC policies, procedures and systems.

Working knowledge of UCR systems such as POlite, SPOlite, Recharge System, PeopleSoft, etc.
