The Marymount University community invites applications and nominations for the position of Executive Director of Human Resource Services. Marymount is guided by the traditions of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary and emphasizes intellectual curiosity, service to others, and a global perspective. With a main campus just outside Washington, DC, in Arlington, VA, and three other educational sites in close proximity, Marymount is Virginia's only Catholic comprehensive university.

A welcoming, inclusive and diverse learning community, Marymount's enrollment is approximately 3,400, with more than 37% of the student body made up of under-represented communities. The University offers approximately 30 undergraduate and 20 masters and doctoral programs within four academic schools: Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Education and Human Services, and the Malek School of Health Professions. With 160 full-time faculty, 195 part-time faculty and a student to faculty ratio of 12:1, the Marymount community prides itself on being focused on its student and strongly committed to their success.

Reporting directly to the Vice President for Financial Affairs & Treasurer, the Executive Director for Human Resource Services serves as Marymount's Chief Human Resources Officer to support the vision, strategic plan, and operating objectives of the Office. The Executive Director leads and administers the Human Resource functions across the University and ensures that these are aligned with the strategies of the senior leadership, as well as the University as a whole. Those functions overseen by the Executive Director include: recruitment, employee relations, compensation and benefits, employee development, and compliance. The Executive Director leads, mentors and serves as a strong advocate for Human Resources Staff.

Key qualifications for the Executive Director of Human Resources Services include:
  • Five years of related experience (with higher education experience preferred);
  • A demonstrated track record of visionary and strategic thinking;
  • Experience in the following areas:
    • Compensation programs and benefit plan development and administration;
    • Worker compensation and employee relations, including employee recognition programs;
    • Administration of federal and state laws and regulations and conflict resolution/mediation;
    • The use of H.R. systems (Datatel/Ellucian preferred) and advanced report writing software (Microsoft);
  • An understanding of, and desire to work in, a shared governance environment;
  • The ability and ambition to expand the use of technology to create more effective and efficient processes/procedures to support the University community;
  • Organizational development experience with excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • An understanding of, and the desire to support, Marymount's mission, vision, and values, particularly its Catholic identity;
