Position Summary
The purpose of this position is to create a one-stop shop for researching careers, job placement, and student employment. Position manages the Career Counseling program to ensure that implementation and prescribed activities are carried out in accordance with specified objectives. Plans and develops methods for implementing program, directs and coordinates activities, and exercises control over personnel responsible for specific functions or phases of the program. Reviews reports and records of activities and/or changes methodology as required to redirect activities and attain objectives. Controls expenditures in accordance with budget allocations.
Job Functions
1.Interviews and counsels students regarding career choices and works with them to assist indetermining potential careers options.
2.Administers and interprets multiple programs and tests that aid in appropriate careerselections. (i.e. Choices program, which tests students’ interests, abilities, and job skillsand provides guidance in career choice determination; MBTI personality tests, whichassists in determining a career based upon the results of the test.)
3.Works with a variety of LSC departments and local businesses for placement of studentsin jobs within their fields, as well as to develop co-op position for students. Develops newbusiness partnerships and maintains current partnership relations to increase potential forstudent placement.
4.Works with other colleges to develop a consistent system of student job placement.
5.Conducts workshops for students for interviewing techniques, resumes writing, andoverall job search skills.
6.Hires, trains, and supervises part-time and/or full-time staff and student workers.
7.Position may supervise the student employment office.
8.Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

 • High School Diploma or equivalent and at least 2 years of related work experience. An Associate’s degree or higher may be considered in lieu of experience. 
 • Specialization in field.

Preferred Qualifications:
 • Bachelor's degree
