Adelphi University is looking for a dynamic and forward-thinking candidate to join our team as Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration (EVPFA). Under the leadership of University President Christine Riordan, Ph.D., Adelphi has grown in enrollment and risen quickly in school rankings. Adelphi is moving from being known as a regionally respected university, to a nationally respected and internationally known modern metropolitan university. The EVPFA will play a significant role in keeping us moving in that direction. The EVPFA will be joining a dynamic, collaborative community dedicated to making Adelphi a recognized leader and trailblazer in higher education. 

The EVPFA will be a key member of the senior leadership team. Working closely with the Provost and other executives to advance the objectives outlined in Momentum: The Strategic Plan for Adelphi University, 2015-2021, the EVPFA will provide fiscal leadership, ensuring regulatory compliance and safeguarding of financial assets and resources, as well as government/community outreach and operational oversight.

With more than 7,600 students in several New York locations, the University offers more than 100 different degree programs at the bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral and professional levels. The University’s annual revenues from all sources were over $250 million in FY 2016–17. Operating expenses average around $200 million per year, and the endowment for the University is approximately $175 million.

The ideal candidate must be a proven financial and operational leader with a distinguished record of outstanding professional service and accomplishment. She or he must have high-level administrative leadership capabilities, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to lead and implement collaborative and persuasive change in a consensus-driven and proactive manner. We seek an executive who will improve the efficiency of financial and administrative functions as well as the data analysis needed by the academic and administrative leadership.

Applicants should possess significant experience as a senior executive in a higher education, foundation, government or business organization of relevant size and complexity involving financial, business, capital planning and project management responsibilities. Applicants should also be familiar with a wide variety of financing and revenue-generating techniques, including public/private ventures and partnerships. A record of significant leadership and involvement in planning and overseeing major construction and development projects in multicampus locations is desirable.
