Clark University’s Admissions department seeks an Admissions professional to the fill the position of Admissions Counselor. This is a full time 9 month (August 1 – April 30) appointment. The position will engage in a range of on- and off-campus recruitment activities designed to present the Clark University undergraduate educational experience to prospective students, their parents, and college counselors. Reporting to the Associate Director of Admissions for Campus Visit Programs, the 9-month Admissions Counselor position is expected to conduct off-campus recruitment activities within the northeast region of the U.S. and analyze and review applications to the University’s undergraduate program in a manner consistent with institutional policies and priorities as well as provide support to the Director. Duties and Responsibilities Included in a range of responsibilities, the Admissions Counselor will plan all logistics associated with recruitment travel within his/her assigned geomarkets, represent Clark at college fairs, high schools, and off-campus recruitment events and research trends in designated geographic territories. In addition, the Admissions Counselor will provide phone coverage in the office on scheduled Counselor-of-the-Day dates, conduct group information sessions, compose e-mail, phone, and written correspondence with prospective students, their parents, and counselors, and provide recruitment support to prospective ALANA (Asian-, Latino-, African-, and Native-American), transfer, and international candidates for admission. The Admissions Counselor will read, evaluate, rate, and make recommendations on applications from assigned geographic territories and others designated by the Director of Admissions and will serve as host and resource to visiting students and families who visit Clark University on the dates of assigned Counselor-of-the-Day duty coverage as well as other duties as assigned. The Admissions counselor will share in the responsibility for building a community that values diversity and the uniqueness of others by exhibiting integrity and respect in interacting with all members of the Clark community to create an atmosphere of fairness and belonging. Qualifications The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree and experience at either the student or professional level in college admissions or related campus-based work or an equivalent set of related experiences, preferably in a selective liberal arts environment. The candidate will have excellent public speaking/communication skills, evidence of having been a strong team player who works well on group projects, and the ability to work effectively with students, parents, alumni, faculty, and other admissions constituencies. Technical qualifications include experience with computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access is essential, as is a valid driver’s license.
