Duties: Assist the chair in managing all aspects of the computer science dept. Participate in faculty meetings and manage heavy faculty caseload of hiring and promotion. Oversee new faculty hires; Handle all faculty promotion cases, including reappointment, tenure, promotion to full professor, senior lecturer, practice faculty, part-time lecturers, adjuncts, annual lecturer reappointments and secondary reappointments. Follow up on all faculty meeting agenda items. Act as chair's liaison to faculty, students and staff, and other school and university departments; Participate in faculty and staff committees.

Manage CIS Staff. Hire, evaluate, mentor and advise staff.

Assist chairs and staff in managing undergraduate and graduate programs. Enrollment has grown to approximately 750 undergraduates and 400 graduate students; Core course enrollments have increased from 100 to 200+ students in several classes. Assist undergraduate and graduate program faculty and staff in developing initiatives and plans to meet current needs. Interface with student support services such as tutoring, career services, Penn admissions as needed; Interface with student groups and assist as needed.

Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree and 5 years to 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Master's Degree preferred. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. Proven ability to plan, implement, manage and evaluate initiatives, programs and activities. Must be able to be a self starter, effectively manage multiple projects and work in a team environment. Solid analytical skills required. The successful candidate will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to analyze and interpret information, present clear and concise recommendations and intervene effectively as needed. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations. Must work well with students, faculty, staff, and other constituencies. Proficiency in MS Office Suite (including word processing, spreadsheet and database management), and web management. Familiarity with IRQDB, Advisor in Touch and Penn in Touch database systems preferred.
