Job Summary: The Director of the Center for Student Involvement (CSI) oversees five core areas of student engagement: New Student Orientation (includes freshman and new transfers), Student Leadership Development, Campus Activities/Event Planning, Service Learning, and Student Organizations. The Director of the Center for Student Involvement contributes to the overall goals of university social justice and student involvement focus by supporting student's intellectual, social, cultural, and co-curricular activities. The Center for Student Involvement office provides support, advising, programming and training for students and student organizations through educational and programmatic opportunities that facilitate and nurture experiences in student leadership, student personal discovery and growth, campus programming, service learning, social justice, and student organization development. This is an administrative, exempt position that reports to the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs/Dean of Students. This position is responsible for the supervision of one coordinator, one clerical staff, one graduate assistant, and 20-35 student employees (office assistants, programming board, orientation leaders).

Minimum Qualifications: A Masters degree in College Student Personnel, Student Affairs, or a relevant discipline. A minimum of 5 years of full-time experience in Student Affairs and experience in campus activities, student leadership development and/or student engagement offices. Comprehensive full-time experience in new student orientation programs is required. Prior supervisory experience required. Strong supervisory skills with the ability to foster and promote an integrated team approach to student leadership development, campus activities, service learning, and new student orientation.

Working Hours:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: A Masters degree in College Student Personnel, Student Affairs, or a relevant discipline. Comprehensive full-time experience in new student orientation programs is required. Prior supervisory experience required. Strong supervisory skills with the ability to foster and promote an integrated team approach to student leadership development, campus activities, service learning, and new student orientation. Experience in all of the following: budget management, student leadership training, curriculum development, student organization advising, new student orientation, and large and small event planning and programming. Must possess a passion for the development of college students. Excellent organizational, communication (written and verbal), interpersonal skills and attention to detail. Ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships. Ability to demonstrate a commitment to service excellence by embodying Roosevelt's core values, mission, and vision in every aspect of the role working with students, faculty, staff, and visitors. A positive and professional demeanor is a must. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in an urban college or university with a residential and large commuter student population. Experience with Ellucian Banner Student database is a plus.
