Degree and Area of Specialization:
Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
At least two years in pre-college coordination and/or implementation involving academic, social and cultural activities, workshops, seminars and/or group activities for urban youth. Two years experience with programming for low-income and/or minority secondary school and/or college students.
Preferred relevant work experience the ideal candidate will have:
-Knowledge of program development
-Grasp of issues affecting urban, low-income and minority school children
-Excellent interpersonal and supervisory skills
-Ability to take the initiative
-Experience building teams
-Collaborative and consultative management style
-Experience coordinating a residential summer program
-Experience implementing programs and policies
-Excellent oral and written communication
-Experience giving public presentations
-Knowledge of equity and diversity issues in educational settings
Must satisfy a criminal background check.
Participates in the recruitment, hiring, training and supervising of full-time and part-time staff including Pre-College Advisors (PCA), instructors, students and volunteers for the successful implementation of program activities and day-to--day operations.
Ensures excellence in the delivery of program services and maintenance of external partnerships at the school based after-school tutorial sites through regular site visits, analyzing student performance and achievement levels, and assisting with student issues that may arise.
The Pre-College Enrichment Opportunity Program for Learning Excellence (PEOPLE) is a statewide college readiness program designed to prepare Wisconsin residents for be successful at the UW-System institutions with an emphasis on UW-Madison, Our mission is to help students successfully make each transition in the educational pipeline: from pre-college to degree completion. We offer comprehensive year-round college preparation services to economically disadvantaged students in the state of Wisconsin, who are admitted to our program.
The general direction of this position is to provide supervision and leadership in the delivery of student services and achieve excellence in the day-to-day program operations.
The Coordinator will report directly to the Pre-College Program Manager, In addition, the Coordinator will work collaboratively as past of the PEOPLE planning and implementation team under the leadership of the Assistant Director and oversight of the Director.
