CU Innovations has an opening for a full-time University Staff (unclassified) Patent Administrator position.

The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus ranks among the top institutions nationally in clinical care, education and research. Position Emphasis:

The Patent Administrator works with minimal supervision and provides a variety of support to the CU Innovations office in carrying out patent administration and federal grant reporting. This position requires specialized intellectual property knowledge, excellent communication and organization skills, strict attention to detail, the ability to prioritize and monitor a high volume of deadlines, and proven interpersonal skills to work with a diverse constituency of higher education, legal and business personnel. The person should be flexible and focused on continual improvement. The Patent Administrator may train and supervise student workers in coordination with other CU Innovations personnel, and will report to the Portfolio Manager. Responsibilities include patent docketing, finances, paralegal, and Federal reporting.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and 1 year of professional level experience with intellectual property and/or patent administration.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of experience in the area of intellectual property.
  • Familiarity and experience with U.S. patent law and the administrative procedures of the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Familiarity and experience with international/foreign patent law.
  • 2+ years of experience working with databases
  • 2+ years of professional experience as a patent paralegal, including docketing.
  • Experience with iEdison database/grant reporting.
  • Notary Public certification for the State of Colorado.
