Associate Director of System & Networks
Job Description Summary: The Associate Director of Systems and Networks is a member of the Systems and Networks team within Information Technology Services, and reports to the Director of Systems and Networks. The Associate Director of System and Networks is a senior network engineering lead with extensive experience designing, building and maintaining enterprise networking. This role works closely with the Director of Systems and Networks to set direction and to design, manage and maintain Furman's modern network presence. This position is intended to provide Level 3- Engineer support between the IT Service Center and the Systems and Networks division of ITS. Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience * Minimum of 5 years' experience in networking and datacenter management including integrating security into network designs * Expert knowledge of IT best practice network techniques, infrastructure equipment and applications pertinent to LAN/WAN engineering operations. * Strong real-world experience and comprehension of OSI layer 1-7 principles * Professional enterprise experience with configuration of Cisco switching and routing configuration and network design. * Proven experience with Advanced networking protocols including BGP * Experience with virtualization hypervisor networking and design * Advanced knowledge of Internet and networking principles. * Significant competence and experience with enterprise servers and storage subsystems and desings * Strong verbal and written communication skills. * Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of constituencies in a University environment. * Experience with IPv6, SDN also a plus * Ability to work independently or as member of a group. * Ability plan, implement, test, manage, and monitor information security solutions. * Strong troubleshooting skills
Preferred Qualifications: * 3-4 years management experience preferred * Significant hands-on experience with Cloud services and cloud migrations preferred * Advanced firewall and IPS management experience preferred. * Advanced system administration experience preferred.
Salary Grade: Level 13 Salary commensurate with education and experience.
