Assistant/Associate/Professor research or tenure track
Department of Surgery at the University of Missouri is seeking research faculty candidates for the appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure-track or research track). Promoted ranks higher than Assistant are negotiable contingent upon qualifications.
The ideal candidate for this position will have demonstrated experience with extramurally funded research and a progressively advancing list of publication of research activities. Candidate should have demonstrated qualifications with a strong emphasis in teaching students, residents, fellows, and other academicians. Additional attributes considered important for this position include having proven leadership qualities and ability to collaborate with professionals and scientists from different areas of medicine and science.
General duties of the position include:
* Developing a robust research program with programmatic focus in a body of science which will be competitive for federal funding initiatives, further research endeavors of the Department of Surgery, and bring distinction to the University.
* Establishing and grow well-funded, self-sustaining, laboratory-based research program with the intention of being awarded with additional NIH R01 funding and bringing distinction to the University.
* Teaching and supervising students and lab staff. It is expected that graduate students will gain independence but undergraduate students and technical staff, available to support research efforts, may require continual guidance and supervision.
* Participating in the academic and educational activities of the Department including attendance in educational activities, mentoring post-doctoral fellows and students, and teaching of clinical and research post-doctoral fellows.
Qualifications: Post-graduate degree (PhD) in an applicable area of science or academia, proven experience with developing a productive lab operation, and track record with acquiring extramural funding to support research.
