Visiting Assistant Professor of the Practice of Law
The Lawyering Process Program at the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law seeks to hire a diverse, entry level candidate interested in starting their academic career teaching first year legal writing, research, and analysis in our Lawyering Process Program as our Fellow of Inclusive Excellence. Lawyering Process is a required first year, two semester course that uses small classes to teach legal research and writing, document drafting, and professional practice skills. Denver Law recognizes the significant lack of diversity among professors in legal writing and hopes to address this shortcoming at home, while spurring a national movement to diversify the profession.
This position is a half-time Visiting Assistant Professor of the Practice of Law as the Fellow of Inclusive Excellence of the Lawyering Process Program, that allows for learning the art of teaching legal skills in a top ranked legal writing program. The duration of the appointment is one year with possibility for a renewal for a second year depending on funding availability. The Visiting Assistant Professor will have the opportunity to develop scholarly interests and credentials, as well as to create course materials. The Visiting Assistant Professor has the option to continue practicing law part-time, but the appointment is ultimately designed to launch the candidate into the national law school teaching market.
