Nature of Work:
The University of Colorado seeks a full-time Professional Research Assistant to work in the Department of Pediatrics - Section of Nutrition at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora. The overall goal of this research is to investigate the role of maternal i) nutritional, ii) metabolic and iii) inflammatory status on infant growth and development. The Section of Nutrition in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is home to faculty members conducting research that spans basic science, clinical trials and behavioral and implementation sciences across the field of nutrition. This position will be supporting a variety of research protocols that investigate epigenetics, genomics, metabolism, inflammation and nutritional assessments in mother-infant pairs.

Example of Work:
- Set-up and perform day-to-day laboratory experiments utilizing techniques that include, but are not limited to immunoassays and preparing biospecimens for analysis
- Biospecimen handling, including biorepository maintenance
- Conduct literature reviews
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of experimental findings
- Analyze and summarize experimental results
- Dietary data entry and database maintenance
- General laboratory duties as assigned
- Support submission of materials for human subjects review and approval
Salary and Benefits:
The hiring salaryfor this position is $34,000 to $40,000 and is commensurate with skills and experience. The University of Colorado offers a full benefits package. Information on University benefits programs, including eligibility, is located at Employee Services.

- Bachelor's degree in biology, nutrition, chemistry or a related field
- A minimum of 1 year full-time experience in a research laboratory setting
- Experience performing basic laboratory assays such as ELISA
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint

- Experience performing immunoassays
- Ability to operate various types of instrumentation
- Familiarity with Good Clinical Practice and Good Laboratory Practice guidelines
- Evidence of scholarly activity such as authorship on scientific presentations or publications
