Summer Music Academy faculty will play an essential role in delivering a high-quality, pre-college music experience to enrolled students. Faculty will be responsible for teaching a variety of courses on a daily basis, including music fundamentals, master classes, private lessons, and coaching chamber ensembles. Faculty will serve as role models to intermediate and high school students as these students navigate their own professional and personal goals. Faculty are encouraged to actively perform during the program.
1. Teach music fundamentals class (theory, sight-singing, and history)
2. Teach daily master classes in assigned instrument/voice area(s)
3. Coach chamber ensembles
4. Teach private lessons as needed
5. Teach music electives as needed
6. Perform as needed
7. Attend and supervise daily activities as needed
Undergraduate degree in music or the equivalent combination of education and experience; previous teaching experience required; demonstrated advanced performing ability on a major instrument; knowledge of music pedagogy and contemporary topics in music education preferred; and demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with colleagues.
