Job description

Duties: Performing all aspects of a metabolic genetics laboratory, which includes a wide range of biochemical screening tests (amino acids, organic acids, carbohydrates) and enzyme assays on urine and blood or tissue samples for the diagnosis and characterization of hereditary disorders, known as inborn errors of metabolism, with a focus on lysosomal storage disorders.

Position is contingent on continued funding.

Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in biology or a related field and 0 to 1 year of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience required. 2+ years of prior work experience in a laboratory and specifically biochemical techniques is strongly preferred.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and basic computer and database skills are required. Work effectively with others, work reliably and independently, and apply quality control tests to assure accuracy. There is no direct animal work. Interest in diagnostic laboratory work and in disease and health of dogs and cats is important.
