The Cancer Center seeks a Director for the Office of Clinical Research (OCR). The OCR Director is responsible for successfully developing, promoting, implementing and achieving the University of Virginia Cancer Center's strategic plan for clinical research, including our vision of achieving Comprehensive Status.
The OCR Director is responsible for the executive oversight, management, planning and direction of all clinical research (administrative) areas including study initiation, clinical research operations, regulatory affairs, recruitment, budget, quality assurance and education.
The OCR Director works with the Cancer Center Director for Research Administration and Strategic Planning and/or the Associate Director for Clinical Research to develop the annual and long-term goals for the OCR. The OCR Director independently develops strategies with metrics for reaching these goals. General duties including staff supervision and performance, recruitment, budgetary development and oversight, participation in review committees (including Protocol Review, Data Safety Monitoring, Trials initiation). In addition, incumbent will serve as the main liaison between research staff sponsors, PIs, IRB, regulatory agencies and University officials and be responsible for working with the Cancer Center leadership in CCSG-related data preparation and strategic planning.
Qualified applicants must have a Bachelor's or advanced degree with at least ten years of experience in clinical research, preferably oncology research, including supervision of administrative team and management of diverse research. ACRP or SOCRA certification preferred. Successful candidate must have excellent communication and organizational skills, strong computer skills, sound financial understanding of operational budgets and the ability to problem solve and provide strategic guidance to the Cancer Center's leadership team.
