About The Unit:

Unit Job Summary: Copy edit manuscripts for style, grammar, and accuracy; edit on computer using XML- based editing program (including checking and entering necessary coding); check proofs when returned from compositor. Work directly with authors, editors, journal offices, and production staff. Act as Team Lead by assuming responsibility for a portfolio of journals (manage the editing and workflow of those journals, serve as authority on style, ensure accuracy of editing and consistency across issues, and represent those journals in meetings with internal staff and outside clients, while meeting strict deadlines). Take on extra tasks and responsibilities as needed, at discretion of supervisor. This position will begin on July 1, 2017.

Unit Education: Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree preferred.

Unit Experience: At least three years of prior publishing experience in copy editing and proofreading required.

Unit Job Function Competencies: Strong language skills required. Excellent computer skills required. Attention to detail required. Ability to edit quickly and accurately required. Experience with adhering to deadlines in a fast-paced publishing environment required. Ability to work independently and to interact confidently but cordially and effectively with authors required. Background in foreign language preferred. Knowledge of economics and social sciences preferred.
