General Description of Position: The College of Engineering at Kansas State University invites applications and nominations for the department head position in the Architectural Engineering and Construction Science Department.  The College seeks a dynamic individual who will provide energetic leadership to enhance the outstanding undergraduate and graduate educational programs and the state of Kansas’s UEIA initiative.  The individual must provide innovative leadership in support of the published departmental goals. The Architectural Engineering and Construction Science department supports two accredited degree programs and numerous opportunities for extracurricular activities related to each program. The department at Kansas State University is nationally recognized for graduating students well prepared for careers in Engineering and Construction.  The combination of these two programs in one department is unique and prepares students to work effectively as a professional member of an integrated Architecture-Engineering-Constructor (AEC) team to produce quality design and construction of the built environment. The department is currently comprised of approximately 310 ARE and 325 CNS students and 18 faculty. Details of the ARE/CNS Department can be found at the URL http://www.are-cns.ksu.edu/.

A successful candidate must be a tenured Associate Professor or Professor in a Department of Architectural Engineering, Construction Science or similar program.  The successful candidate must have demonstrated the ability to develop and foster relationships with key departmental and program constituents including, but not limited to AEC industry representatives, ARE/CNS employers, and industry advisory council members. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experiences.

Attributes desired in the successful candidate include a strong record of scholarly and professional accomplishments, a distinguished reputation in the technical community, administrative experience in an academic environment, fiscal and personnel management abilities and excellent interpersonal skills.  The candidate should have demonstrated leadership in strategic or long range planning.

Required Minimum Qualifications:  ·A tenured Associate Professor or Professor in a Department of Architectural Engineering, Construction Science or similar program

·Ability to develop and foster relationships with key departmental and program constituents

Preferred Qualifications:

·Strong record of scholarly and professional accomplishments

·Distinguished reputation in the technical community

·Administrative experience in an academic environment, fiscal and personnel management abilities

·Excellent interpersonal skills

·Demonstrated leadership in strategic or long range planning
