Summary of Duties
The Engineering Technology department invites applications for a tenure-track
Position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate is expected to teach undergraduate Mechatronic Engineering Technology courses and direct course projects, create innovative instructional materials, and supervise extracurricular activities as assigned. Teaches day, evening, off campus, online and summer classes as needed or assigned. Engages in scholarship including research and developing sources of external collaboration for projects with industry. Participates in professional associations. Participates in program assessment and development activities related in accreditation. Assumes an active role in the planning and governance of the institution through service on department, college and campus-wide committees. Assists in recruitment, advisement, placement and follow-up of students. Engages students in projects with outside organizations and community. Attracts funding to the college through grants and other sources.

Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited institution with terminal, earned degree appropriate to discipline. ABD accepted. Knowledge and skill in current instructional theories, strategies, techniques, and discipline content. Evidence of potential for scholarly/creative work consistent with a teaching university. Preferred Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited institution with Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field from a US or US equivalent university. ABD accepted. Knowledge and skill in current instructional theories, strategies, techniques, and discipline content. Ten or more years of relevant industry experience. Experience with the 2+2 College/University technology programs is preferred.

Knowledge
Strong knowledge and background in industrial wiring, circuit theory, AC and DC systems, programming of microcontrollers including PAL and GAL ICs, semiconductors, operational amplifiers, Boolean logic, computer architecture, hydraulics and pneumatics theory, industrial applications, and design of industrial automation processes and systems.

Demonstrates knowledge, experience and background 2D and 3D CAD including Solidworks.

Advanced knowledge of subject matter and course content of the courses to be taught which include an emphasis of theory and practice.

Topics include PLC’s, Sensors, Transformers, Relays, Electric Motors, CNC Machines, Industrial Robots, Ladder Logic, HMI, networking, PID, Vision Systems, System Analysis, Motor Starters, Drives, Hydraulics, and Pneumatics.

Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques, student management, motivation, evaluation and assessment of instruction, curriculum development, program development and evaluation, current trends in technical education, cooperative work experience programs, and student recruitment.

Knowledge and experience with 2 + 2 college / university technology programs.

Knowledge and understanding of Engineering Technology and the role and necessity of hands-on course labs.

Knowledge and experience with supervision of undergraduate or industrial research projects.

Skills
Effective human relations skills and communication techniques.

Public speaking and presentation skills.

Technical writing skills.

Skills in setting up and troubleshooting electrical and mechanical hardware.

Abilities
Ability to construct and test prototypes using electrical, mechanical and computer science skills.

Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.

Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, agency administrators, and community practitioners from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and initiative in solving problems.

Ability to work independently.
