Job Description

We are currently seeking an experienced MEP Construction Manager for the New York City area to support our capital program management, construction management, MEP design build, and specialized construction service offerings. Qualified candidates shall have a strong knowledge of the construction process, be experienced with extensive fieldwork, possess a background in mechanical and/or electrical construction, and harbor an understanding of basic MEP systems, including installation means and methods. Applicants must also have strong communication skills, with an ability to interact regularly with various groups, including architects, engineers, construction managers, systems operators, financial officers and trustees. Candidates must have a working knowledge of basic computer programs, including various Construction Management software packages.

Responsibilities/Job Functions:
  • Interpret construction documents as they pertain to all trades, develop an understanding of design-intended performance and manage in-field installations
  • Perform routine quality control inspections of various job sites, confirming use of appropriate means and methods and conformance with construction documents
  • Develop, implement and maintain detailed schedules with aggressive milestones
  • Develop monthly owner progress reports
  • Budget estimating, purchasing, engineering, cost & construction functions as they relate to the completion of the project
  • Develop bid-leveling documents and conduct buyout meetings. Prepare trade contracts/subcontracts
  • Provide administrative support to construction projects as needed, including negotiating contracts, resolving trade issues and contract claims, reviewing/negotiating project change orders and reviewing subcontractor applications for payment

Job Requirements:
  • 8 - 10 years of MEP construction-related experience in academic, healthcare, commercial and/or industrial spaces
  • 4 year degree from accredited engineering/construction related curriculum OR 15 years of MEP construction-related experience
  • Ability to comprehend all specification divisions, with an emphasis on Divisions 25 and 26
  • PE or other related certifications preferred
  • Possess the ability to forecast down range problems and provide solutions in a proactive environment
  • Familiarity with Primavera Construction Management Software packages preferred
  • Ability to process applicable construction documents i.e. submittals
  • Understanding of phasing and logistics of complex MEP construction projects. Critical path management
  • Willingness to travel 50% of the time within company's region
