Associate Project Scientist

The University of California, Irvine's Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders has an opportunity for an Associate Project Scientist position in the laboratory of Claudia Kawas. M.D. The Kawas lab uses multidisciplinary approaches to investigate those who reach age 90 and older: "Clinical, Imaging, and Pathological Studies of the Oldest Old, The 90+ Study. One major area of focus involves neuropsychological testing of 90 + year old research participants. Researchers will be responsible for reviewing medical history, family history, demographics, and medications. Researchers will administer a battery of neuropsychological tests and interview participants to evaluate their memory and thinking skills. In addition, a goal of the study is to publish scientific research findings by review of the data, conducting statistical analyses and preparing manuscripts.
Successful candidates must have a PhD in Neuropsychology or a closely related field and 1-3 years of productive postdoctoral experience. We are especially interested in applicants with experience, proficiency and publishing expertise in the following research areas:
• Neuropsychological test Norms for 90 + with normal cognition
• Mild Cognitive Impairment
• Methods of Neuropsychological Assessment
• Neuropsychological Performance in Alzheimer's disease
Applicants must have a strong publication record, advanced writing skills, and experience with grant writing. Candidates must be able to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams and to manage scientific projects within a complex organization; therefore, excellent interpersonal, organizational, and oral and written communication skills are essential. This position will be appointed at the level that is commensurate with the education and experience of the individual candidate.
