Posting Summary:
The University of Virginia School of Medicine has an innovative medical academic enrichment program, the Summer Medical Leadership Program (SMLP). The primary goal of SMLP is to expose participants to the "real world of medicine" to prepare them not only for admission to medical school, but also to assume future leadership positions in medicine and/or biomedical fields. SMLP is an intensive six-week residential summer medical academic enrichment program for 30 undergraduate students from underrepresented groups and disadvantaged backgrounds. Participants are interested in pursuing careers in medicine and are chosen from a nationwide pool of applicants. More information about the program can be found here:

SMLP is seeking an Administrative Coordinator to provide independent management of the program. This individual is critical to the program's success. The incumbent participates in recruitment of candidates, coordinates the applications and the application process, and facilitates selections and offers. The incumbent serves as the housing manager and ensures arrangements have been made for students. Fiscal duties include ensuring stipends for the students are paid accurately, performing fiscal reconciliations, and assisting with grant proposals. Ensuring the program website is updated continuously is also a core responsibility.

To be successful, candidates must have a high school diploma, and a Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred. Experience in student academic support/academic enrichment administration, management of a cyclical student program in higher education, website maintenance, and accounts maintenance are preferred.

This position is restricted and contingent upon the continuation of funding.
