Lab Research Analyst I Position Job Description

Job Description.
A Lab Research Analyst I position is available in the lab of Drs. Victor Dzau and Conrad Hodgkinson in the Cardiovascular Research Center. We focus on cardiac regeneration post-injury. Specifically, we investigate cardiac reprogramming by miRNAs and regenerating the heart through the use of novel stem cell-derived factors.

Occupational Summary.
Perform a variety of molecular biology and cellular assays within the overall scope of a research project at Duke University. This position will also include animal colony maintenance.

Responsibilities.
  • Conduct molecular biology assays including qPCR, immunoblotting, ELISAs, and flow cytometry.
  • Perform cellular assays that include cell culture, transfections and confocal microscopy.
  • Collect data as defined by the research area.
  • Maintain animal colony for experimental use, including writing and submitting all regulatory information to the relevant bodies.
  • Work as part of a diverse multidisciplinary team to most efficiently and effectively answer a research question.
  • Manage submission of research proposals and final reports.
  • Work with investigator to plan the research for new and existing research projects
  • Conduct animal work. Evaluate and interpret collected data and prepare reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions
  • Order supplies and equipment.


Job Requirements.
A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in the biological sciences is required and a Master's Degree is preferred. Significant experience with molecular biology and cell biology techniques as well as a background in animal colony maintenance is expected. Candidates will be expected to develop and adapt new technologies according to GLP standard within an existing research group. Therefore, excellent teamwork, communication and adaptability are highly desirable.

Education
