The Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences seeks Financial Assistant (UCP 1) applicants. This is a full-time position at the UConn Speech and Hearing Clinic. The incumbent will provide front office services with routine, direct contact with pediatric and adult populations. Responsibilities include, insurance verification, scheduling, invoicing and financial reconciliation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Verify and analyze details of transactions such as invoices, requisitions and other disbursements in conjunction with university and college policies and procedures
  2. Provide statistical information on various expenditures and compile regular reports utilizing electronic spreadsheets and databases
  3. Schedule client appointments with multiple clinical faculty members in the disciplines of audiology and speech-language pathology
  4. Provide data for budget preparation and monitor expenditures in compliance with approved budget limits; perform related duties as required
  5. Monitor, track, interpret and maintain clinic and departmental fiscal records and accounts to ensure compliance with federal, state and university policies
  6. Deliver prompt resolution of outstanding contact account issues to assure accurate completion of work
  7. Complete clinic correspondence related to patient care
  8. Maintain confidential medical files
  9. Respond to inquiries from community medical professionals
  10. Communicate with a diverse population including individuals with hearing and communication disorders
  11. Perform related duties as required

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate's degree in accounting or bookkeeping and two years' experience in accounting or bookkeeping.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in business or related field; experience working in a healthcare setting; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated customer service skills; demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment; excellent computer skills including experience with Microsoft programs.

Appointment Terms:

Anticipated salary is in the upper-thirties and includes a full benefits with excellent healthcare and retirement package.
