Dept. of English, Instructor / Assistant Professor (Full-time, 1 Year, Temporary)
Department Summary: English is one of the largest majors at Bridgewater and one of the most vibrant departments. With twenty-five full-time and many more part-time faculty, we offer a rich array of courses and programs designed to give our students broad introductions to the craft of writing and the study of literature, along with many opportunities for in-depth study. English is a diverse and dynamic field, and our faculty bring their expertise and enthusiasm to everything from Beowulf to the Beat poets; from creative non-fiction to the teaching of writing; and from contemporary film to literature from around the world.
Essential Duties: The English Department seeks candidates for two full-time, 1 Year temporary, benefited positions. Responsibilities include: -teach assigned courses in the major -advise students -attend department meetings -serve on departmental committees Classes may be conducted on any of BSU's three campuses; the main campus in Bridgewater and at BSU's satellite campuses in Attleboro and on Cape Cod
Required Qualifications: MA in English; relevant teaching experience Applicants should be strongly committed to excellence in teaching and advising and to working in a multicultural environment that fosters diversity. They should have an ability to use technology effectively in teaching and learning, to work collaboratively, to show evidence of scholarly activity and to have a commitment to public higher education.
Preferred Qualifications: PhD in English
