Under direction of the Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Medicine, the incumbent performs a number of support functions to assist in the overall operation of the Athletic Department. Primary sport responsibility of Women's Soccer with emphasis in Athletic Training/Sports Medicine. This position may have athletic training oversight for secondary sports as assigned; administers treatment to student-athletes as needed for injuries and assists with the supervision and oversight of athletic training students in all aspects of therapeutic treatment, athletic training room operations, and athletic event coverage both home and away, in the capacity of a clinical instructor. Additional job responsibilities include travel to away games with sports as needed and assigned; providing supervision of graduate student interns; maintenance of treatment records and injury reports; assisting with the inventory of athletic training supplies and inventory of Prescription Drug program; planning and supervision of rehabilitation programs for student-athletes making necessary medical referrals and assisting in the determination of an athletes' ability to safely compete.

The position also assists in the screening and selection of athletic training students for curriculum admission as requested; assists athletic training students to prepare for certification examination; and assures that all activities are operated in compliance with NCAA, MWC and University rules and regulations reporting any violations, or suspected violations, to the Director of Compliance; and other duties as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine.

Required Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four year institution with an Athletic Training, Kinesiology or Health-related major course of study.
  • Minimum two years of experience as an athletic trainer at the Division I collegiate level
  • NATA Certified
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse ethnic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds and project a professional attitude
  • Ability to:			
  • Work cooperatively with coaches, staff, faculty, students and members of the community
  • Appropriately handle confidential and sensitive information
  • Perform all duties with integrity and professionalism
  • Work a flexible schedule including nights/weekends
  • Ability and willingness to support the equity and diversity commitments of the department
  • A history of regular attendance and positive performance evaluations

  • Preferred Specialized Skills:
    • Master's degree in a course of study as described above is preferred
    • Two or more years of experience as a full-time athletic trainer at the Division I collegiate level
    • Experience using FMS or similar programming in the area of injury prevention
