Student Personnel Technician/ Financial Aid
Employment Status: Two (2) Full-time, "non-exempt," Temporary positions through November 30, 2017.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00AM - 5:00PM

Under the supervision of the Financial Office Director, the incumbent will accept and process applications for a variety of student financial aid programs including federal, state, and institutional aid. On the basis of a thorough knowledge of the policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to the financial aid programs, the incumbent will provide information to students on application procedures, availability of funds, eligibility requirements and repayment schedules. The incumbent will analyze and correct data elements in the automated financial aid delivery system. The incumbent will verify information on Fee Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) forms provided by students, and will verify data elements and recalculate Expected Family Contribution (EFC) if required. The incumbent will review files that have not met Satisfactory Academic Progress criteria, and will review appeal forms along with supporting documentation using professional judgment in order to determine future financial aid eligibility. The incumbent will conduct Financial Aid workshops for students and parents, providing a clear description of all Federal and State programs, eligibility requirements and types of funds available. Incumbent will provide other duties as assigned.
Applicants must possess the equivalent to two years of responsible general experience in a college or university financial aid office demonstrating acquisition of practical understanding of policies and procedures related to financial aid processing. Applicants must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of Title IV rules and regulations. Knowledge of Federal Family Education Loan Program and Direct Loan is required. Applicants must possess the ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, faculty and co-workers. A technical ability to correct data elements in an automated financial aid delivery system required. The ability to review awards is required. Applicants must possess the ability to review financial aid applications, request appropriate documentation, resolve inconsistencies and make professional judgments in determining eligibility for financial aid. Applicants must have the ability to work with a diverse group of people. Familiarity with automated systems is highly desired.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU.
