The University of Denver (DU) welcomes applications and nominations for the position of Dean of Colorado Women's College (CWC). Established more than 125 years ago, CWC is a private women's college at DU dedicated to the advancement of women and girls in the 21st century through transformative education, leadership development, public good work, and research.
In February 2015, DU's Board of Trustees decided to reimagine CWC in a bold and innovative way with the goal of transforming CWC into a global leader in advancing women in the 21st century. Its strategic plan - with two major innovations and multiple initiatives under each - envisions CWC as a hub in Denver and the region dedicated to advancing women through transformative education, leadership development, public good work, and research.
Reporting to the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor, the new Dean of CWC is a dynamic and innovative leader who possesses a clear vision to transform CWC into a prominent voice in advancing women in the 21st century. S/he provides overall leadership in supporting innovative approaches to women's life-long learning and leadership development while maintaining strategic relationships within the community and region. As CWC's leader, s/he understands the challenges endemic to women and higher education and is responsible for the full range of activities associated with the management and promotion of the social and practical mission of the school.
The Dean oversees and facilitates the development and management of all CWC programming and all aspects of the college's operations including articulating and implementing the college's mission; representing the college to internal and external constituents; and ensuring that the college is fiscally well managed. S/he provides strategic vision and manages a dedicated staff. An exceptional advocate for women's issues and identities, the new Dean will have prior leadership experience, preferably within higher education or other scholarly environment. Administrative experience in higher education and/or a track record of academic leadership is preferred. Experience leading a complex organization, preferably through a transitional phase and achieving sustainability will be key as will demonstrated success cultivating and managing external relations and developing new revenue streams. An advanced degree is required; terminal degree is preferred.
