CONTEXT OF THE JOB:

The Office of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) engages donors, alumni, friends, parents, faculty, staff and students in a lifelong relationship and fosters a tradition of philanthropy to strengthen the University of Delaware's legacy as one of the great public institutions of higher education in America.

Under the limited direction of the Director of Communications, the Associate Director will serve as a strategic leader on the DAR Communications team, conceptualizing, guiding, executing and analyzing the digital strategy and projects for the Office of Development and Alumni Relations. The Associate Director will be responsible for strategy related to videos, blast emails, web and more. This position will work collaboratively with all areas of DAR, as well as the Office of Communications and Marketing and the University Media Services office at the University of Delaware.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develops and executes a comprehensive digital marketing strategy for the Office of Development and Alumni Relations through video, email and web channels.

Establishes and implements a video strategy and presence for the department including solicitation, stewardship and engagement messaging while translating the DAR mission into a vision. Incumbent will work closely with both internal and external vendors on execution.

Develops overarching email strategy for the department and works with DAR Communications team for implementation and assessing effectiveness.

Recommends and implements website content and design strategies. Analyzes web traffic metrics and suggest solutions to boost DAR web presence.

Manages a team of digital and data professionals.

Stays current with digital technology developments and establishes best practices in digital marketing for DAR.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in a related field and three to five years of job-related experience in digital communications, marketing or related field; publications and communications experience required; management experience preferred; ability to adapt strategy and channels to a variety of audiences; experience with video including filming, editing and distribution; experience working with video, email and web vendors; sound knowledge of web analytics tools; experience with online marketing tools and practices; familiarity with web design and HTML; ability to meet tight deadlines and work on multiple projects simultaneously; ability to work with a team as well as independently and to be proactive in seeking solutions to challenges; knowledge of University of Delaware's academic programs a plus.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for special events.
