Position Summary

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at The University of North
Carolina at Greensboro has a 10-month, tenure-track chair position available fall 2017. Responsibilities include administration of the department, research, and limited teaching. Qualified applicants will have a PhD in Communication Science & Disorders or related fields. Preference will be given to persons with a record of research productivity and administrative experience.
The Chair must exhibit effective and timely communication with other leaders across the university while adhering to organizational protocols. Candidates should possess a broad knowledge of and experience with administrative functions including accreditation (e.g., CAA, NCATE, SACS), budget planning and fiscal management, personnel, program marketing, curriculum oversight and evaluation, faculty development and program assessment. The Chair will provide strategic vision and leadership to the department and on-campus speech and hearing center. The Chair will engage in teaching and research. This is a search for an external candidate.
The department has 16 full-time academic and clinical faculty, approximately 120 undergraduate students, 65 graduate students and 11 PhD students. The department is housed in a state-of-the-art physical location, enjoys a warm collegial environment, and offers extensive opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration in the School of Health and Human Sciences (HHS) and across the university. The diversity of the faculty and students in HHS is 20% and 30%, respectively, from non-white ethnic groups, which is well above the national average in both categories.
