Clark University seeks a creative and dynamic individual to join an innovative admissions team as the Director of Graduate Admissions–Marketing & Recruiting. Reporting to the Dean of Graduate Studies, the Director will be responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing agreed-upon strategic marketing and recruiting plans for all graduate programs at Clark University. The Director will oversee all aspects of the marketing and recruitment processes and strategies with the goals of increasing both the number and quality of tuition-paying graduate students; increasing the visibility of Clark's graduate academic programs in local, national and international venues; generating more high quality applications to all master’s level programs; and increasing net graduate tuition revenue. Duties and Responsibilities The responsibilities of the Director of Graduate Admissions-Marketing & Recruiting will include developing and implementing an overall graduate admissions marketing and recruitment plan, and managing the Communications and Recruitment staff. The Director of Graduate Admissions–Marketing & Recruiting, along with the Graduate Admissions Oversight Committee, must develop admissions targets and strategic growth goals for graduate programs in the Graduate School of Management (GSOM), the School of Professional Studies (SPS), the International Development, Community, and Environment (IDCE) Department, and other university master’s and doctoral programs. This individual must interface effectively with the University Marketing and Communications Office and work closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications within that office. In addition, the Director will work closely with the Deans and/or Directors of the various graduate units, as well as program coordinators, to implement marketing and recruitment plans that will meet the enrollment needs of the individual graduate programs. Other responsibilities include coordinating the graduate marketing and recruiting efforts of the Dean of Graduate Studies, the Graduate Deans and Directors, the Director of Graduate Admissions - Enrollment and Operations, Chairs of Graduate Departments, and program coordinators. The director will work closely with the Oversight Committee to achieve effective management of marketing and recruitment budgets and staff to meet individual program and collective level goals. The director will also perform other relevant duties as assigned. Qualifications The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or journalism/advertising-a Master’s degree is preferred-and have at least 5 years of experience in marketing, advertising or communications, preferably in higher education. The candidate will be an experienced people manager with strong project management skills and the ability to meet schedules and objectives. The ideal candidate will be personable, innovative, versatile and results-oriented, have experience developing strategies and marketing plans for individual programs, and have a strong background in digital marketing strategies and technologies. The candidate will have a strong understanding of the graduate education landscape and admissions best practices, a demonstrated competence in writing, editing and creative direction, and will be a good relationship builder with strong verbal and written communication, presentation and negotiation skills. The successful candidate will have the talent to work with and influence people across a complex organization. Technological skills required include knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) as well as the ability to learn new software systems quickly. Experience working with a CRM solution is strongly desired as this individual will need to creatively employ Clark’s online application management system.
