The Institute for Quantitative Health Science and Engineering (IQ) and the Colleges of Engineering, Human Medicine and Natural Sciences at Michigan State University invites applications for a fixed term position in the area of synthetic biology, bacterial pathogenesis, chemical biology, cancer biology/immunology or biomedical engineering.
Hires will be made in one of the following departments: Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Biology; Microbiology & Molecular Genetics; Biomedical Engineering; Pharmacology and Toxicology; Physiology; Internal Medicine; Radiology. The positions will be filled at the rank that fits the applicant's experience depending on the qualifications and record of the successful candidate. The candidate is expected to establish a sustainable research program, make significant scholarly contributions to their discipline, be an effective teacher and mentor of both undergraduate and graduate students, and engage in institutional and professional service.
Institute for Quantitative Health Science and Engineering (IQ) is an integrative science environment in which convergent approaches to solving biomedical questions are encouraged. The institute strives to use systems biology approaches including imaging across a range of scales, biocomputation of multiscale data, omics of complex systems, and other integrative, and integrated, approaches to understanding biological systems. Some of the focus areas of the institute include developmental biology, structural biology, device development, biocomputation, imaging instruments and reagents, synthetic biology, cell biology, and therapeutics. Faculty appointments will be in relevant departments in the three colleges and laboratory/office space will be available in the Institute.
