Manages, provides assistance, counsels, and advises students and parents regarding student billing, including coordination with student registration (registrar's office), financial aid, international office, graduate school, study abroad and other applicable areas. Performs other duties as assigned.
Advises and counsels students on their accounts in the University's billing process, including financial aid, registration, and room and board as applicable in accordance with FERPA and other privacy guidelines. Provides support documentation for student fee payment histories and 1098-T tax reporting inquiries. 40% - Essential
Collection, Payment Processing, and Reporting:
Performs student receivables accounting functions, including processing in-person or mailed student payments with a high degree of accuracy, while adhering to policy.
Collects past due accounts in an effort to reduce receivables. Develops reports to show trends, metrics, and success in collections. 25% - Essential
Communications and Customer Service:
Manages communications with students and parents including emails, phone calls, in-person visits and mailed correspondence. Maintains excellent customer service.
Reviews departmental web pages for content accuracy and reports necessary improvements. 20% - Essential
Report Interpretation and Distribution:
Interprets IRS 1098-T reporting requirements and assists in the distribution of the annual 1098-T statements. Trains staff on University billing in accordance with 1098-T reporting requirements. 15% - Essential
A bachelor's degree and experience in student services programs.
Firm Job Knowledge - Firm working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations
Acts as Lead - Acts as a Lead by guiding the work of others who perform essentially the same work.
No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.
