Job Summary: Skidmore College Human Resources invites applications for a full-time Assistant Director for Labor Relations position. The Assistant Director will lead in the administration and enforcement of the collective bargaining and labor relations for 6 unions, approximately 180 college employees represented by these union. This individual ensures consistent college-wide contract interpretations, coaches and advises operations supervisors of union employees as well as union employees in areas such as; hiring practices, discipline, administration of programs and policies. Interprets contract language and provides guidance to managers and union employees, including, organizing and presenting contract training. Takes an active leadership role in handling contract negotiations, grievances, dispute resolution, communications and other legal matters.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Labor Relations, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work or other relevant degree or equivalent with 5 -10 or more years of relevant experience. Must have knowledge of Labor Law, the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), Union avoidance strategies, Human Resource trends, compliance, regulatory changes, legal rights and responsibilities. Strong written and verbal communication skills are critical. Demonstrated interpersonal skills. Technical proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications, calendaring systems, etc. required. Experience with various systems and databases, including time and attendance systems (Kronos) is preferred.
