Posting Summary:
The School of Medicine Core Facilities is currently seeking a Laboratory Specialist Intermediate to manage, execute and communicate antibody and recombinant protein production and purification activities with multiple protein expression systems (e.g. Mammalian, insect, Yeast, Virus, E. coli) with UVa PIs. Additionally, this position will work in the field of molecular biology and protein engineering using directed evolution as requested. Experience with multiple methods of protein purification and analytics including FPLC chromatographic techniques will prove beneficial in this role.

The successful candidate will have a B.S. Degree in Biological Sciences and six years of relevant experience in Biological Sciences. Knowledge of Vector map, DNA sequence analysis, and Microsoft Office Suite is also required.

Preferred candidates will have a M.S. Degree or PhD in Biological Sciences and seven years or more of relevant experience in Biological Sciences. General experience of tissue culture, including knowledge of stable and transient cell line generation, characterization and optimization for manufacturing purposes is also preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
