The Department of Biology is looking to hire a Lab and Research Technician in the Parichy lab at the University of Virginia. The Parichy laboratory studies developmental Biology using zebrafish as a model organism, with a focus on roles for stem cells in the development of pigmentation, melanoma, and pigment pattern evolution. Lab members are expected to work both independently and as a team depending on the specific projects or tasks at hand. In this position, the incumbent will be expected to diligently pursue specific research projects or components of larger projects under direct supervision of the principal investigator. The individual will also assist with general lab upkeep including care of the zebrafish colony, in which all lab members including the PI participate. This position requires work during some weekends and holidays.
This position is restricted and is contingent upon the availability of funding.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Competency with molecular biology methods such as PCR, DNA sequencing, DNA and RNA isolation and handling, and reagent preparation is required.
