This class series uses three levels within the Health Care Services Occupational Group and describes direct client treatment work in psychiatric care settings. Positions in this class series provide client care by participating in individual and group therapy sessions, planning and implement client treatment from admission through discharge. The work includes clinical coordination duties such as scheduling treatment plan reviews, programming, and activities so that all patients on a ward or unit are able to attend sessions; providing in-service training and serving as a resource to nursing staff on clinical topics; coordinating contacts with clients' family and community agencies in order to evaluate client placement sites and aftercare services following discharge or during transition; and serving as a liaison with other units on the transfer and continuing treatment of patients.

Job Summary

Peer I is a substance abuse treatment program for adult med with chronic histories of substance abuse/dependence; many serving some form of legal sentence with the state of Colorado. This full-time, University Staff (unclassified) position will conduct thorough interviews and obtain any and obtain any and all necessary collateral documentation, i.e., PSIR's, Mental Health Evaluations, Medical Documentation, Treatment Records etc; coordinate with staff as needed; interaction with multiple referral agencies, internal staff and individuals; interview on the phone or in person at a local county jail; complete initial intake file on new placements to include all required documentation, i.e., DCJ forms, Dacod, ASAM; SOA-Rs, GAIN, etc,; complete various record keeping and documentation as applicable to position; provide program information regarding referral, placement, and compliance to prospective clients, family members and/or interested parties when appropriate.

Examples of Work Performed:

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.

Salary and Benefits:

The hiring salary for this position is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience. This position is eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
*Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate's degree in human services or closely related field

*One year of experience providing therapeutic and related services to substance abusing clients in a substance abuse setting.

SUBSTITUTION:

*Work experience which provided the same kind, amount and level of knowledge acquired in the required education may substitute for the education.

*Sixty semester credits or a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in psychology, sociology, social work, behavioral science, clinical mental health, nursing, mental health, childhood development, human growth and development, human services or closely related field may substitute for the associate's degree but not for the one year of experience.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

*Must possess and maintain a Certified Addictions Counselor II (CAC II) or higher.

*Must agree and pass fingerprint and criminal background check per licensing and governing agency standards. Program licensing authorities legally require these checks to be passed by employees.

*Individuals in recovery from substance abuse must have one year's abstinence from alcohol and drug problems.

*In accordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA), ARTS cannot employ individuals (who may have contact with residents) who have (1) engaged in sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup, community confinement facility, juvenile facility, or other Institution (as defined in 42 U.S. C. § 1997); (2) been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse; or (3) been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described in (1-3) of this section. Material omissions regarding such misconduct, or the provision of materially false information, shall be grounds for termination

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

*Bachelor's degree or higher with experiencing assessing Mental Health disorders or a master's level degree in a Human Service field.

*Experience working with adult offender population

*Experience documenting behaviors according to established policies *Experience observing, monitoring and/or intervening in drug/alcohol treatment *Experience working in a Therapeutic Community
