About the Position

Program Specialist provides program leadership in the areas of program development, program management and student services for Extended Studies Programs within the Graduate and Extended Studies Office at SJSU's College of Engineering. Working independently, Program Specialist will develop, manage, and administer Extended Studies programs, contribute to strategic planning, conduct analysis and evaluations of programmatic goals and develop recommendations. The incumbent must be able to use sound judgment when interpreting and applying SJSU policies and procedures as they pertain to new and complex situations that arise in Extended Studies Program.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Develops and manages and ensures proper administration of engineering programs for Off Campus cohorts. Researches policies pertaining to emerging problems and proposes solutions with acceptable outcomes. Contributes to strategic planning of Extended Studies programmatic goals. Performs market research and analysis to determine the viability of new programs. Assists with the development and progression of existing off campus programs. Develops opportunities for outreach and recruitment. Organizes events with professional organizations. Develops website content and print publication materials for marketing. Provides analysis of marketing techniques for further implementation. Identifies complex and/or sensitive operational problems. Assists students, faculty and corporate partners with developing guidelines to address and resolve the problems. Re-evaluates and modifies as necessary. Performs research and analysis of current policy guidelines. Updates existing processes or creates new ones to address specific situations. Develops or updates student service assessment tools. Performs in-depth analysis of feedback from student assessments. Re-evaluates current methods and modifies as necessary. Plans and coordinates events for the purposes of program expansion, recruitment, and alumni relations. Analyzes, interprets and advises application of policies and procedures to students and faculty of Off Campus cohorts.
