Job Description

MUST HAVE ACCOUNTING DEGREE and REAL ESTATE EXPERIENCE

Seeking a Controller/Office Manager to assume complete responsibility for all accounting/finance/project management for a Real Estate Management Company and for a privately held Mortgage Banking Company located in Bethesda, Maryland. The Real Estate Management Company owns and operates apartment buildings, shopping centers, warehouses, town house complexes, and single family homes.

Position will report directly to the owner and requires a high degree of initiative and dedication. This unique position offers the ability for significant advancement, through real drive and determination, by assuming additional responsibilities from the owner. Base salary is offered. Bonus plans are based on both yearly performance of the individual and the performance of the 2 businesses.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage all phases of

The Real Estate Management Company's activities.

The Private Mortgage Banking Company's activities

Perform a variety of duties in project management

Handle multiple entities registered in various states.

Participate in Strategic Planning.

Produce timely and accurate financial & management reports for multiple Real Estate LLCs and Partnerships including:

Income Statements

Balance Sheets

Project management

Job Cost including Budgets vs Actual, Work Plans and % of completion.

Projections & forecast

Cash flow

Maintain control in all areas that typically come under the Controller's responsibility, including:

Cash Management

Work with and oversee Preparation of Federal & State Tax returns prepared by outside accountant.

Policies & procedures

Safe guarding of assets

Review contracts for consistencies and risk management.

Ensure legal and regulatory compliance.

Possess strong computer skills with knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, other Microsoft Office applications, Quick Books and Appfolio

Handle other related or new duties assigned by the owner.

Minimal to no travel requirements.

Experience:

Accounting Degree

5+ years in real estate industry

Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles.

Solid experience in project management.

Exceptional problem solving and analytic skills.

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Proven ability to meet deadlines. Reports must be produced timely and accurately.

We are a real estate company with commercial and residential properties. Most properties are located in the DC metro area with some in Vermont, Florida, and Ohio.
